HC Deb 01 March 1921 vol 138 c1628W
Mr. T. THOMSON

asked the Minister of Food what is the quantity of flour stored in Stockton-on-Tees at the Tyne Tees Shipping Company's wharf and the corporation wharf; how long each parcel has been in store and the cost incurred for storing and inspection; and whether he proposes to clear the same before further deterioration of quality takes place?

Mr. McCURDY

The balance now remaining of the flour stored for Government account at the wharves referred to is 250 tons. The total charges incurred there since January, 1920, when a reserve was first constituted in this locality are £886 19s. 2d. In accordance with the policy of reduction of these emergency reserves (of which the hon. Member was informed on 17th February), the disposal of this balance will proceed as rapidly as possible.
