HC Deb 01 March 1921 vol 138 cc1625-6W
Mr. E. KELLY

asked the Postmaster-General whether he is aware that the northern mails from Dublin are leaving an hour earlier than heretofore, with the result that northern letters have to be posted before four in the afternoon; did the railway company obtain his approval to the earlier starting of the evening mail train; and has he considered the possibility of sending these mails by the later goods train?

Mr. PEASE

The time of departure of the evening train from Dublin was altered by the railway company on the 31st of August last as a consequence of the introduction of "curfew" arrangements in Belfast. The Dublin Post Office was informed by the company on the evening of the 30th of August of the intended alteration, which was recognised as reasonable in the circumstances. The case of a goods train was considered at the time and found to be impracticable.
