asked the President of the Board of Education if he can name the educational areas for which the appointed day has been fixed in respect of day continuation schools; and in which of these areas such schools have now been established?

Mr. FISHER

Appointed days for the purposes of Section 10 of the Education Act, 1918, have been fixed in the case of the following areas:

Birmingham County Borough.

Kent (in respect of young persons resident in the County, but employed in London, who attend Day Continuation Schools in London).

London.

Southend-on-Sea County Borough.

Warwickshire (for young persons resident in the Borough of Stratford-

I have not the data for making a comparison in regard to local taxation.

on-Avon, and the Urban District of Rugby).

West Ham County Borough.

Wiltshire (for young persons resident in the Borough of Swindon).

Day Continuation Schools have been established in all these areas except Kent.
