HC Deb 21 June 1921 vol 143 c1112W
Mr. H. JONES

asked the Prime Minister whether the Government is prepared to act upon the recommendations of the Royal Commission upon Public Records in regard to the removal of the records relating to Wales to a public depository in the principality?

Mr. YOUNG

The recommendations of the Royal Commission involved the establishment of new local depositories of records in England as well as in Wales. In present financial circumstances I am afraid that it is impossible to incur the expenditure which would be involved, not only on buildings and staff for the new offices, but on additional staff which would also be required, under the recommendations of the committee, at the Public Record office.
