§ Mr. HANNONasked the President of the Board of Education whether he will explain the reasons which have given rise to the increase in the expenditure of the Board of Education from £14,369,000 in the financial year 1913–14 to £51,014,000 in the current year; and whether he will indicate to what extent this increase is due to the increase in school attendance, the increase in the number of teachers, 62W the increase in the standard of teachers' pay, and the amount of war bonus being paid to teachers?
Mr. H. LEWISI do not think it possible to deal satisfactorily with this matter by means of question and answer. I would refer the hon.
