HC Deb 02 June 1921 vol 142 cc1267-8W
Sir W. JOYNSON-HICKS

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether the Minister without Portfolio has yet received any salary; and, if so, what?

Mr. YOUNG

The Minister without Portfolio is being paid at the usual rate of £5,000 per annum.

Colonel GRETTON

asked the Lord Privy Seal if there is statutory authority for the office of the Minister without Portfolio; and when the Vote for his salary will be taken?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

The office is recognised by Statute, and under the provisions of Section 2 of the Re-election of Ministers Act, 1919, is included in the Schedule of Offices, the acceptance of which does not necessitate re-election. As regards the last part of the question, I am not at present in a position to name a date, as the early Supply days are already allotted to other subjects.
