§ Sir J. NORTON-GRIFFITHSasked the President of the Board of Trade the quantity and value of incandescent gas mantles which have been imported during the last six months; and if many gas mantle factories in Wandsworth and elsewhere are on the point of closing down through want of orders?
§ Sir R. HORNEThe quantity of incandescent gas mantles, registered during the six months ended 31st January, 1921, as imported into the United Kingdom, was 46,938 gross and the value £101,973. This rate of importation—so far as the quantities are concerned—is small as compared with that which prevailed before the War. I am aware, however, of the difficulties now being experienced in this industry through lack of orders.
