§ Mr. WIGNALLasked the Secretary for Mines whether his attention has been drawn to the serious position resulting from the closing down of the lead mines 1461W Of Halkyn Mountain, in Flintshire; whether he is aware of the demand that the recommendations of the Departmental Committee on the non-ferrous mining industry should be adopted, and that, if necessary, the statutory authority with the requisite powers to complete the gravitation drainage scheme should be set up in order to save this vital industry from extinction; and whether he will give this matter consideration?
§ Mr. BRIDGEMANThe position in regard to the lead mines in the Halkyn District has been engaging my attention for some time, and I would refer the hon Member to the reply I gave to his question on 1st December last. A scheme is now being considered by which it is hoped the present difficulties which prevent the completion of the tunnel may be overcome and work thereon resumed.
