HC Deb 17 February 1921 vol 138 c323W
Sir H. SMITH

asked the Minister of Transport whether he can make any statement as to the effect of the increase of passenger fares on the railway passenger traffic from the date of such increase, to 5th February last and a period of six months?

Mr. NEAL

It is not yet possible to draw any reliable conclusion on this matter. The incidence of the railway strike in 1919, and of the coal strike in 1920, goes far to destroy the comparative value of any figures for the months of September, October and November, while as regards December, returns art not yet complete.
