HC Deb 17 February 1921 vol 138 cc323-4W
Mr. WILSON-FOX

asked the Minister of Labour whether an illustrated pamphlet, entitled "Their Task and Ours," has been circulated broadcast to the public by his Department; what public object the publication of this pamphlet is intended to promote; how many copies have been printed and at what cost; and what is the estimated cost of distribution?

Dr. MACNAMARA

It is the fact that an illustrated pamphlet entitled "Their Task and Ours" has been prepared and printed by the Ministry of Labour, in order to stimulate the interest of employers in placing in industry disabled ex-service men who have been trained in various crafts under the Government Industrial Training Scheme. Twelve thousand copies have been printed at a cost of £180, and the distribution which has been regulated with care includes every Member of this House, as well as several thousand visitors to the Disabled Men's Training Annexe of the Efficiency Exhibition at Olympia. I need hardly point out to my hon. Friend that, apart from other consideration, every case in which an employer is encouraged by these means to take one disabled man into his employment, not only fulfils an obligation of honour but also affords direct and immediate relief to the Exchequer.
