HC Deb 21 April 1921 vol 140 c2096W
Mr. CAIRNS

asked the Minister of Health if he is aware that visiting committees to lunatic asylums are strongly of the opinion that the words "pauper lunatic" and "pauper lunatic asylums" are galling to the people who are so unfortunately placed and their relations; and, if he thinks so, will he so amend the Lunacy Acts and substitute "mental patient" for "pauper lunatic" and "mental hospital" for "pauper lunatic asylum"?

Sir A. MONO

I would refer the hon. Member to the reply to a similar question by the hon. Member for Lincoln (Mr. Alfred T. Davies) on the 10th March.
