HC Deb 07 April 1921 vol 140 c465W
Mr. T. P. O'CONNOR

asked the Chief Secretary if he intends at an early date to have a short Bill passed through Parliament providing a new pension scheme for Irish national school teachers complementary to the new improved salary scales; and whether such new pension schemes are already in operation in England and Scotland?

Mr. HENRY

In view of the fact that the control of Education in Ireland, including teachers' pensions, passes to the new Irish Governments under the Government of Ireland Act, 1920, it would not now be opportune, and is not intended, to introduce legislation: on the subject in this House. Any questions concerning teachers' pensions in England and Scotland should be addressed to the Ministers concerned.
