HC Deb 29 November 1920 vol 135 c938W
Sir F. HALL

asked the Chief Secretary for Ireland if his attention has been called to the statement in the "Daily Herald" of 18th November that a girl named O'Connell, aged 16, of Dingle, when crossing a road near the village carrying one child and leading another, was shot by auxiliary policemen as the outcome of a wager; if there is any foundation for such allegation; and, if not, whether any steps will be taken against the journal responsible for publishing this and other atrocious calumnies?

Sir H. GREENWOOD

I have inquired into this matter, and am informed that the allegation in question is entirely untrue. The suggestion contained in the latter part of my hon. and gallant Friend's question is not being overlooked.
