HC Deb 24 November 1920 vol 135 c445W
Lieut.-Commander HILTON YOUNG

asked the Minister of Pensions whether E. G. Southgate, 54, Wellington Road, Norwich, late Gunner, No. 645527, Royal Garrison Artillery, was, on 21st October, recommended for a special diet of 5s. by the medical referee of his local pension committee who had seen him; whether on 3rd November this allowance was refused by the deputy-commissioner of medical services who had not seen him; and what is the justification for the reversal of a recommendation by a doctor acquainted with the case by a doctor who had no acquaintance with it?

Major TRYON

I regret that in the short time available I have not been able to obtain the full facts in this case. Inquiries are, however, being made, and I will communicate with my hon. and gallant Friend at an early date.
