§ Mr. MacVEAGHasked the Chief Secretary for Ireland whether he has yet received any official reports confirming the statement that three men in plain clothes describing themselves as Black and Tans demanded admission to 157, North Circular Road, Dublin, after midnight on the 1st instant; whether the house was occupied only by two ladies and a housekeeper, all of whom were subsequently fired at by these men; whether a military party immediately afterwards arrested four Army officers stationed at Marlborough Barracks named Mackin, Templeton, Sinclair, and Popplewell; whether these officers in mufti left the barracks after curfew when no civilians were in the 452W streets; whether when arrested some of them were under the influence of drink and in possession of service revolvers with spent bullets; whether they allege that the three ladies in the house fired on them; and whether these officers have been brought to trial; and if so, with what result?
§ Sir H. GREENWOODI have received a report from the police regarding this matter, but as it is still the subject of a military enquiry I cannot at present answer the detailed questions asked by the hon. and learned Member.
