HC Deb 23 November 1920 vol 135 c261W
Mr. ALFRED T. DAVIES

asked the Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies whether forced labour has been introduced in British East Africa; whether this policy is adopted temporarily or permanently, and whether, in view of the traditions of British government, he will state the specific reasons for the countenancing of forced labour?

Lieut.-Colonel AMERY

The nature of the action which has been approved, and the reasons for it, are fully set out in the despatch from the Secretary of State to the Governor of Kenya and the other Papers presented to Parliament in Cd. 873.
