HC Deb 06 May 1920 vol 128 c2250W
Brigadier-General COCKERILL

asked the Home Secretary whether he has any reason to suppose that the demonstrations at Wormwood Scrubs are organised by John MacGrath, who styles himself Sinn Fein organiser for London; and whether this man was in February, 1919, sentenced to a term of imprisonment for being concerned in the transmission of arms to Ireland?

Mr. SHORTT

The demonstrations were organised by the London Branches of the Irish Self-determination League, of which John Joseph MacGrath is general secretary. He was convicted as stated in the question.
