HC Deb 06 May 1920 vol 128 cc2250-1W
Sir J. BUTCHER

asked the Postmaster-General whether he is aware that a large number of registered packets have been forcibly seized by revolutionary bands while in transit in the post in Ireland; the value of the property so seized; and what steps the Post Office is taking to compensate its owners?

Mr. ILLINGWORTH

So far as I am at present aware, the number of registered postal packets forcibly seized in the manner described has not been large. Any claim for compensation is dealt with on its merits under the ordinary Regulations of the Post Office.
