HC Deb 06 May 1920 vol 128 c2246W
Sir W. JOYNSON-HICKS

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he is aware of the hardship on retired pensioned Civil Servants of all grades owing to the present high cost of living; and whether he will consider some slight addition to these pensions?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

The Government have already agreed to consider the possibility of giving some relief in cases where the amount of pension has been calculated on pre-War rates of salary and exceptional hardship is shown to exist. A Committee of Ministers is now dealing with the matter and will, I understand, make specific recommendations at an early date.
