HC Deb 04 May 1920 vol 128 cc1912-3W
Colonel ASHLEY

asked the Minister of Health whether he is aware that the recommendations of Lord Salisbury's Committee in regard to the provisions of the Restriction of Rents Act will cause great hardship to ex-service men who, having broken up their homes on joining the colours, have since been endeavouring to re-establish them by investing their savings in the purchase of a house, possession of which cannot be obtained if these recommendations are accepted; and whether, under these circumstances, he can see his way to include a Clause in the Bill specially exempting from the provisions of the Act all ex-service men who can show that they have purchased a house for their own use before the 1st May, 1920?

Dr. ADDISON

My hon. and gallant Friend will have an opportunity of raising this question when the Bill is before the House.
