HC Deb 04 May 1920 vol 128 cc1919-20W
Mr. CROOKS

asked the Minister of Health whether he has received any communication from the Woolwich borough council, drawing attention to a letter they have received from the London Housing Board to the effect that in all cases of approved housing schemes notice must be given to the district surveyor under Section 145 of the London Building Act, 1894, and all fees legally demandable, including those under the Building Act, paid; whether he is aware that in connection with the council's housing scheme at Eltham payment of fees to the district surveyor will entail an additional estimated expenditure of £4,000; and whether, in the circumstances, he is prepared to grant the request that a Bill be introduced to amend the London Building Act, so as to enact that the provision of that Act relating to notice being given to district surveyors and as to fees payable to them, should not be applicable so far as approved housing schemes in the Metropolis are concerned?

Dr. ADDISON

I have received the communication referred to, and the matter is receiving my consideration.
