HC Deb 04 May 1920 vol 128 c1920W
Mr. ALLEN PARKINSON

asked the Minister of Health whether his attention has been called to the practice of private building firms of offering inducements to attract labour away from the housing schemes of local authorities to the building of private houses in respect of which the Government subsidy is payable; and whether he will take steps to prevent the diversion of labour in this way at the cost of the taxpayer?

Dr. ADDISON

A good deal of difficulty is being caused by builders paying bonuses and offering other inducements for men to work on commercial buildings, but there is no evidence that men are being taken from local authorities schemes to work on subsidy houses.
