HC Deb 03 May 1920 vol 128 cc1725-6W
Mr. H. JONES

asked the President of the Board of Trade what is the total sum of money expended up to date in respect of the timber purchased at Pennal, and the total sum realised in respect of the same; what number of men and horses are now employed there and at what cost per week; what quantity of timber is still on the ground; and what is the reason why none has been removed for some weeks?

Sir R. HORNE

The total expenditure up to 31st March last in respect of timber purchased by the Timber Supply Department at Pennal, including the price of the trees standing was £22,602 17s. 10d.; the total sum realised to the same date was £10,929 15s. 11d. Three men and one horse are employed at present at a weekly cost of £9; 600 tons of cordwood are still on the ground and 8,700 lineal feet of pit-props are at the station; nothing has been despatched for some time because purchasers have not yet been found for it, but additional steps are being taken to get orders for it.
