asked the Home Secretary what were the convictions for drunkenness in the Metropolitan area during the last period of weeks for which information is available and the convictions in the same area during the corresponding period of weeks in 1918 and 1919, respectively, showing, if possible, separate figures for men and women?

During the first 17 weeks of the present year, ending 25th April, the convictions for drunkenness in the Metropolitan Police District were 8,193 males, 2,331 females—total 10,524. The corresponding figures for 1919 were 3,369 males, 1,356 females— total 4,725; and 1918, 2,366 males, 1,112 females-total 3,478.
