WOODasked the Minister of Health whether he has received representations from boards of guardians with reference to the heavy burden laid upon local rates by the increased cost of maintenance of patients in lunatic asylums; and whether, in consequence of these representations, he is considering the introduction of legislation to amend the Local Government Act of 1888 in order to provide for the repayment to boards of guardians of at least one-half of the actual cost to them of every lunatic patient maintained in a county asylum?
