§ Mr. GANGEasked the Minister of Food if permission will be granted to import chilled pigs from North America to traders who can arrange for cold storage this side, as, unless these chilled pigs are brought in quickly, there will be a great scarcity of pork and consequent hardship upon the public?
§ Mr. McCURDYAs any arrangements made by private importers for refrigerated tonnage and cold storage for frozen pigs must necessarily reduce the amount of accommodation available for other imported supplies of a more essential nature arriving under Government contracts, I regret that it is impossible for the Ministry of Food to grant this permission.
