HC Deb 08 July 1920 vol 131 cc1701-2W

Mr. SITCH asked the Minister of Health if he has received a communication from the Brierley Hill Urban District Council protesting against the continual increase in the cost of materials required for the erection of houses for the working classes; whether this represents the views of every Local Authority throughout the kingdom endeavouring to meet their obligations under the National Housing Policy; and, if so, will he indicate what steps, if any, the Ministry is taking to arrest this continual advance in prices, under which Local Authorities are confronted with conditions of increasing hopelessness in their attempts to deal with so urgent and vital a matter?

Dr. ADDISON: I would refer the hon. Member to the answer which I gave yesterday on this question to the hon. Member for Barnard Castle (Mr. Swan) and the right hon. Member for East Woolwich (Mr. Crooks).
