HC Deb 07 July 1920 vol 131 cc1473-4W
Mr. WIGNALL

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether his attention has been drawn to the number of discharges taking place from the firm of Messrs. Courtauld, Limited, at their factories at Halstead, Earl's Colne, Braintree Mills, and Bocking, owing to the action of the French Government in prohibiting the importation of crêpe into France; and whether he can make representations to the French Government with a view to this restriction being removed?

Mr. BRIDGEMAN

I am aware that the prohibition of importation of crêpe into France is affecting employment in crepe factories generally, and I would refer the hon. Member, as regards the second part of his question, to the replies I gave to the hon. Members for Maldon (Sir F. Flannery) and Romford (Mr. Martin) on 5th July.
