HC Deb 29 April 1920 vol 128 cc1457-8W
Mr. GRANT

asked the First Commissioner of Works if he is aware that a large high screen has been erected in the great watching chamber in Hampton Court Palace and consequently spoils the coup d'œil of this fine chamber, and of the splendid tapestries that hang, and have hung for years, on its walls; and whether he can see his way to remove the screen with the two bits of tapestry which have been fastened on it, and give directions to transfer the two tapestries to more suitable places in the Palace?

Sir A. MOND

The answer to the first part of the hon. Member's question is in the affirmative. I considered it desirable that the tapestry recently bought for the nation should be temporarily installed for the public to see. The screen will be shortly removed, and I am carefully considering certain re-arrangements of the tapestries, which will include the permanent hanging of the recently acquired pieces.
