HC Deb 28 April 1920 vol 128 c1242W
Mr. J. DAVISON

asked the Secretary of State for War and Air whether he is aware of the dissatisfaction among the troops now being retained in Mesopotamia, and whether he can name a date for the return of these men?

Mr. CHURCHILL

I am not aware of any dissatisfaction existing among the troops in Mesopotamia. The General Officer Commanding stated on 1st April that, with the exception of less than 20 men, whose cases were the subject of enquiry, and a few men who were undergoing hospital treatment or serving sentences of imprisonment or detention, no men were being retained who had not volunteered for further service. Orders had been issued that all demobilisable personnel, other than those mentioned above, should proceed to Basra for embarkation before the end of the month.
