§ Brigadier-General SURTEESasked the Home Secretary (1) if his attention has been called to the fact that police pensioners have received no increase of their allowance beyond those of pre-War days, whereas those of old age, military, and civil list pensioners have been considerably advanced; seeing that the cost of living has more than doubled and that 1272W such police pensioners contributed 2½ per cent, out of their wages while in the force towards such pensions, if he will reconsider the question with a view to doing justice to these men;
(2) whether, in view of the substantial increase in wages to members of the Metropolitan police force and others, with the recent addition of 12s. per week to cover the increase of rent, etc., he will reconsider the question of increasing the pensions of retired policemen whose pensions are the same as in pre-War days, especially as such men when on active duty paid 2½ per cent, out of their wages towards such fund?
