§ Mr. SHORTTNo figures as to the number who have secured employment can be given for the Metropolitan Police district. Elsewhere, out of 1,310 men dismissed, 834 are known to have secured employment, and probably many others have done so without the Chief Constable being informed. Practically all who have applied have been given suitable recommendations, but it is impossible to say in how many cases these recommendations led to their employment. Two ex-policemen have been complimented by magistrates, and two others have been thanked by a Chief Constable with the magistrates' concurrence.
