asked the Home Secretary if, in view of the fact that an inspector of the uniform branch of the Metropolitan Police receives to-day, if he goes on the pension list, £250 per annum, he can see his way to increase the pensions of first-class inspectors of the Criminal Investigation Department who retired, prior to the increased scale being in operation, from £176 to a higher rate?

I have no power to increase the pensions of police officers of the rank in question or of any other police officers who retired prior to the increase scale of police pay coming into operation.
