HC Deb 25 November 1919 vol 121 cc1643-4W
Lieut. - Commander KENWORTHY

asked the Postmaster-General if he can state the number of appointments to the position of salaried sub-postmaster made since the Armistice in the districts of Kildare, Midleton, and Charleville, in Ireland; and how many of these men served in His Majesty's Forces during the War?

Mr. ILLINGWORTH

There has been a vacancy for a salaried sub-postmaster at each of the towns named. The candidate appointed to Kildare is an ex-Royal Engineer, who was over age for active service during the late War, but served with the Forces in a civilian capacity as an instructor in telegraphy. The candidate appointed to Charieville did not serve in the Forces. An appointment at Midleton has not yet been made.
