HC Deb 18 November 1919 vol 121 c385W
MR. C. WHITE

asked the Food Controller whether a wholesale butcher with a weekly turnover of £4,000 would make a weekly profit of £235; and whether he will state on what basis this is allowed?

Mr. McCURDY

The hon. Member would appear to have been misinformed. The rate of commission allowed to wholesalers who distribute meat on behalf of the Ministry of Food is 2½ per cent.; on this basis the gross income on a weekly turnover of £4,000 would be £100.
