HC Deb 18 November 1919 vol 121 c406W
Mr. R. GWYNNE

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Agriculture why the application of Mr. E, H. Jarrett, late Lieutenant and Quartermaster, 10th West Kent Regiment, for a two years' agricultural training under Mr. C. W. Hawkins, of Herd Farm, Corringham, Stanford-le-Hope, made on Form L.S. 9A, has been refused, seeing that he has begun a good practical training under an experienced farmer which will have to be abandoned; and whether, in view of the urgency of resettling ex-Service officers and men in civilian life, he can see his way to reconsider his decision?

Sir A. BOSCAWEN

Mr. Jarrett's application for a Grant under the Officers' Agricultural Training Scheme was refused by the Board on the recommendation of their Selection Committee, who did not consider from the information at their disposal that his claims to a Grant were so strong as those of numerous other applicants. In view, however, of the information contained in the question of my hon. Friend, I will have further inquiries made into this case.
