HC Deb 17 November 1919 vol 121 c639W
Mr. DEVLIN

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he is now in a position to state on what grounds the military authorities proclaimed the proposed meeting at Caledon on Saturday, 1st November?

Mr. CHURCHILL

I am informed that the Proclamation was issued by the military authorities in consultation with the Irish Government, as there was reason to believe that serious disturbances would occur if the meeting was held.
