HC Deb 17 November 1919 vol 121 c647W
MR. G. LOCKER-LAMPSON

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Munitions what is the total number of persons, military and civil, engaged at home and abroad in the work of or connected with the work of the War Material Disposal Board, including all on the strength of the War Office?

Mr. KELLAWAY

The total number of persons employed under the Disposal Board, at home and abroad, is 1,881, and in addition there are 645 persons engaged upon other duties who devote part of their time to the work of disposals. There are also a number of persons in other Departments of the Government who are engaged upon work connected with the handling, movement, and storage of material before disposal, but the responsibility for these duties rests with the Departments notifying the material to the Disposal Board, and I have no knowledge of the numbers so employed.
