HC Deb 13 November 1919 vol 121 c525W
Mr. FOREMAN

asked (1) the Undersecretary of State for the Colonies whether he can make any statement with regard to the future of Jubaland; and what truth there is in the reported possibility of Kismayu and the surrounding country being handed over to the Italians;

(2) the Prime Minister whether in the Peace negotiations any arrangements with the Allies have been entered into, or are being entered into, with regard to the transfer or cession of any territory which was British before the War?

Lieut.-Colonel AMERY

Negotiations have been in progress between the British and Italian Governments with a view to giving effect to the stipulations of the Treaty of London 1915, by which it was agreed that if Great Britain and France increased their African possessions at the expense of Germany, Italy should also be entitled to some adjustment of the frontiers of the Italian African Colonies. I am not in a position to make a definite statement on the subject at present.
