HC Deb 11 November 1919 vol 121 c247W
Mr. DONALD

asked the Food Controller why English-made cigarettes are sold in England in packages of ten and twenty at 5½d. and 11d., whilst the same cigarettes are sold in Ireland in packages of ten and twenty at (6d. and Is.: and if he will take steps to put a stop to this profiteering in Ireland, which is a tax on Irish smokers of something like 4d. per week?

Mr. BRIDGEMAN

I have been asked to reply. I was not previously aware of the matters referred to in the hon. Member's question, but I will have inquiries made.
