HC Deb 04 November 1919 vol 120 c1339W
Captain Sir B. STANIER

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he has settled with Mr. H. Groom, of Stokesay, Craven Arms, for the damage done to his 53 acres of land by the Woods Department having timber on the land from October, 1917; and for what reason was the sum offered reduced by £103 after the claim was settled by Captain Millett?

Mr. BRIDGEMAN

The answer to the first part of the question is in the negative; since the claimants 'have not yet accepted the offer made by the Department. I am informed that Captain Millett had no authority to settle this claim.
