HC Deb 04 November 1919 vol 120 cc1337-8W
Mr. CLOUGH

asked the Minister of of Health whether he is aware that the construction of wooden houses is being hampered by the imposition of a, three years' licence to use these structures; and whether the building societies are refusing to advance money, in view of the uncertainty as to whether these licences will be renewed?

Dr. ADDISON

The Regulations permitting the erection of wooden and other buildings which do not comply with local by-laws remain in operation for the next three years, but they do not limit the period during which these buildings may be allowed to be used for human habitation. It is manifest that the occupation of houses of this character erected during' this period should be permitted during the life of the house whilst kept in a properly secure and habitable condition.
