asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Shipping Controller if he will state how many acres of arable and pasture land have been taken for the national shipbuilding yards at Chepstow, Beachley, and Portbury; and which Department of the Government is responsible for the garden city at Beachley?

The area taken up for the purpose mentioned extends to, roughly, l,522 acres, of which about 658 acres are still being formed. The responsibility for the model village has since the 1st of November last rested with the Ministry of Shipping.
