HC Deb 04 March 1919 vol 113 cc231-2W
Mr. HAILWOOD

asked the Food Controller whether, in view of the plentiful supply of wheat and of adequate shipping that now obtains, he will at an early date abolish the Bread Order of 1917?

Mr. ROBERTS

The Bread Order, 1917, was superseded by the Bread Order, dated 18th May, 1918, No. 547. The operations of the Bread Order are not affected in any way by the available supply of either wheat or shipping, and it does not deal with prices. I am considering the advisability of rescinding at an early date those Clauses of the Order that are no longer regarded as essential to secure economy in the use of flour, other ingredients, and labour.
