HC Deb 04 June 1919 vol 116 c2020W
Mr. A. WILLIAMS

asked the President of the Local Government Board if he will inquire whether any hostels belonging to the Ministry of Munitions, the War Office, the Admiralty, and other Departments which were used for munition and other war workers during the War can now be made available for housing the civilian population?

Mr. PRATT

Proposals for adapting hostels to provide temporary housing accommodation are under consideration by the town council of Sheffield and the Woolwich Borough Council, and a somewhat similar scheme is before the Hammersmith Borough Council. My right hon. Friend shall be willing to assist local authorities in making such arrangements where there is urgent need for temporary accommodation.
