HC Deb 10 July 1919 vol 117 c2054W
Mr. RAWLINSON

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether, having regard to the importance of our encouraging trade with the Czecho-Slovak Republic, he will cease to prohibit the importation of hops from Bohemia now that the reasons for any restrictions on such importations have ceased to exist?

Mr. BRIDGEMAN

The importation of hops from foreign countries is regulated by reference to the requirements of this country and to the existence of adequate quantities of suitable home-and-colonial grown hops. I cannot accept the suggestion in the latter part of the question.
