Major NEWMANasked the Chief Secretary for Ireland if he will state the total number of pensioners of the rank and file of the Royal Irish Constabulary chargeable to the Constabulary Vote on 1st January last; and how many of them are receiving pensions less than £44 per annum, £44 and under £52 per annum, £52 and under £65 per annum, £65 and under £80 per annum, and £80 and upwards, respectively?
§ Mr. A. SAMUELSThe number of pensioners of the rank and file of the Royal Irish Constabulary on the 1st January, 1919, was about 7,000. They are not classified in relation to the amount of their respective pensions, To classify them in the manner suggested in the question would involve a considerable expenditure of time and labour by the staff which is fully occupied with other work of a more pressing nature.
