HC Deb 20 February 1919 vol 112 c1207W
Major PRESCOTT

asked the Postmaster-General whether his attention has been called to the fact that Tottenham has no general post office; and if he will cause early inquiries to be made into the whole question of the inadequacy of the existing postal facilities with a view to satisfying an urgent public need in this great industrial community which has a population of 160,000 people?

Mr. ILLINGWORTH

Considerations of economy and difficulty in providing staff and accommodation have precluded the provision of additional branch post offices in London during the war. The claims of the Tottenham district in this respect will be considered in conjunction with the claims of other localities as soon as circumstances are more favourable.
