HC Deb 15 December 1919 vol 123 c67W
Lieut.-Colonel R. GREENE

asked the President of the Board of Education whether he is aware that acute discontent has been aroused by his decision to exclude from the death gratuity under the School Teachers Superannuation Act, 1918, those ex-Service teachers who fail to satisfy the Board that their health has been unimpaired by military service; and whether, in justice to those men who have suffered by their Army service, he can see his way to reconsider this decision?

Mr. FISHER

I would refer the hon. and gallant Member to the proviso to Section 3 (1) of the Act, from which he will see that the Board have no discretion in the matter.
