HC Deb 11 December 1919 vol 122 c1655W
Mr. LAWSON

asked the Minister of Transport whether, during the recent railway strike, the railway police force were called upon to perform the work of railwaymen on strike; and whether he will give an undertaking that in the case of any future strike railway policemen will not be called upon to undertake any work other than their normal duties?

Mr. NEAL

I am not aware whether during the recent railway strike members of the railway police force were called upon to perform the duties of other railwaymen who had left work, but if any of the police volunteered to perform other duties I have no doubt the offer would be accepted. I am not prepared to give an undertaking that such a course would not be followed in any future case.
